the melbourne half-marathon
well, i have learned that what running i have been doing and the swims/bike workouts has been sufficient to ramp me up to the half-marathon, missing my PB by 2 mins. considering that there were no timing mats at the start of the half, plus, there wasn't a clear indication where the start of the half even was - i just might have tied my PB. so, i'm quite happy since i managed to keep passing some people at the end of the half-marathon.
i must say, it's really odd to be running the route that you normally cycle. it's got awfully nice scenery, which is great. loads of people were sporting their fav mp3 player which i was quite surprised to see during a road race. altogether a very nice race but if you're looking for lots of goodies (like i always do), you won't get much at all. no t-shirt, two pieces of fruit, a race bib, a bottle of water for $60AUST. i might consider doing the full next year for kicks but i guess that depends on whether mark gets himself to kona. you know, this not knowing is killing me.
but speaking of kona... i'm sure the rest of you will be glued to your computer screen/internet as mark will be this weekend.
