6 month verdict: stay or go home?

if you ask me at this very moment: go home.

and i mean right now. i don't mean in a couple of years. apparently, the hands that no longer work, the slow down in getting a new project started and trying to assimilate into australia (while being similar is still different) is getting to me. i have been talking to other postdocs right now, those starting and those established and while i'm glad to hear i'm no different than anyone else - it still doesn't make it feel any better.

i am by no means, not excited to travel and see this part of the world it's just with few things working, it's hard to justify having two weeks of vacation or a long weekend to go exploring. i know that some will think i should just take it easy - but you also know me better than that. when things usually get tough, i bunker down and try to focus. plus, it's hard to get away for a long weekend when mark is full on into training.

so, if we stay for 3-4 years, will we be coming back to canada? yeah. in my opinion, there's no place like home.

how are you feeling? Man, it hurts me to read that you're not having a good time there. :( Hang in there, buddy. I know you will.

Try to stay positive - Oz has lots to offer: the weather, the lack of people (proven by the photos you and Mark take!), closeness to HK / China...

Sounds crazy, but I'll be in HK from Nov 3 - 13 (two weeks from today). Wanna come?!

  • it's these tribulations that make you strong and make you the you that i love. i know that when you put your mind to something, you will always land on your feet. we'll get by, my dear.

hmm, yeah, i do train a lot.

agreed. there is no place like home. australians aren't very canadian. i must admit that i was tunnel-visioned into a love for australia initially. but, now, more than ever, i know that canada is the place to be.

not sure where the change of heart comes from, maybe its the fact that it's getting warmer in october. even me, who hates winter, am missing the cold october winds. and the " ... cold november rain ...", a GNR classic.

i miss 4 richard too, even with it's squirrel problems.

i could think of worse places to be than melbourne ... scarborough, for example.
