It would appear, that we are all headed towards divorce
The following article cites social science articles which lend credence to the idea that women in careers make for lousy marriages.

This story tends to lend support that a man can do as many hours as necessary to jump-start his career while a woman cannot. We definitely see this trend over and over again in the science field. I was recently watching 'god's gift to woman', the guy who brought a cancer vaccine to clinic and thinking, now THAT is what i want to be doing. but i was also told if i wanted to go to med school, have a family, be a scientist - it would be really, really hard; i've left out the expletive which was used - and it was a woman who told me this. so here I am watching these awesome presentations in translational science and thinking - well, so much for that, I can't go there, my marriage will just fall apart. i will feel constant guilt over handing my kids over to daycare and coming late to pick them up.
or am i wrong? what gives? why is it that women who want a career plagued with guilt over dirt in the house, not taking care of the kids properly and not satisfying the husband? societal views and maternal instinct in my opinion appear to be in play here. and i certainly don't have the answers... but damn it, i certainly think that if that's what i want, then i should go for it - because let's face it, i'll regret it and just take it out on the marriage/family anyhow. now... if only i can figure out exactly what i want.

hmm, fluff, very typical of Yahoo.
you might read the counterpoint article: http://www.forbes.com/home/2006/08/23/Marriage-Careers-Divorce_cx_mn_land.html. it's a little more in touch with reality.
and, not written from a "click here to find out why you shouldn't marry a career woman" point of view.

Mark, thanks for the link with the counterpoint. I haven't read it yet, but the original "point" (career women = bad wives because they will not clean nor bear your children, and they will cheat and you will both be unhappy) really irritated me!
