Christmas in Oz

My first chrismas in oz was relatively quiet. Christmas Eve Day started with a ride to Frankston (100k) with Ian, Georgie (yes, he calls himself that instead of just George), Lavinia (Ian's wife, works in Bioinformatics with Mark), Carolyn, Nick and Thomas (Nick and Thomas are from WEHI). Mark unfortunately could not join us as he was feeling flu-ish. The day started off at 6.15 am (nick never cycles with us at this time) and he subsequently went down near the bridge after thomas exuberantly announced how beaUUUUtiful melbourne looked at 6.30 am in the morning. the wind coming back was horrendous. i was no longer avg 30 k/h but 15 k/h. any time that i think i'm getting better at cycling, the weather here manages to reduce me to crying. and i did.

we missed chrissy drinks (yes, this is suppose to mean christmas drinks) at gina's unfortunately but mark needed to do a full recovery. christmas day started at 7.30 am with pancakes and bacon and a call from bright's grove. i gave mark some customized speedo swimsuits - suffice to say he is primed for the elite wave in triathlon. oh so much fun. i also got him a pink shirt since he's always commenting on pink shirt and his wardrobe selection.
