are we too politically correct?

remember watching the gold medal olympic hockey game at o'grady's? it was intense and emotional and people shouted, hollered - you name it.

but what wasn't there was at the socceroo qualifying game at bridie's & griddle (whatever it's called). there was tense moments, shouting, cheering - and name calling. players were called everything under the sun, including faggots, lesbos and dirty dogs. clearly, many of the phrases were politically incorrect and just non-sportsmanship-like (is that a word?) and i was beginning to fear for my life being a 5 ft girl amongst heavy set 6 ft men.

do i just have delicate ears? are we too politically correct now? are aussies just not afraid to be brash and brutally honest?

and most importantly, does ironman have to be changed to ironwoman?
