no more MSN messenging

the secret police are out there again!

alright. so with SECURITY tightening all around us, our ITS dept has effectively cut off MSN messenging (sorry mom and dad, I know you just learned how to use it) from me. In addition, I can no longer access my broadband (which I pay for) at home with my own PERSONAL computer. Suffice to say that the security measures that ITS-WEHI has taken are a bit suffocating considering that RIS-OCI was able to deal with us moving our PERSONAL laptops around with the amount of confidentiality that goes on with patient care.

so for now, if you don't see us on MSN, it's because we can no longer access it - just email.

  • You may be able to use webmessenger. http://webmessenger.msn.com/ - you don't have to download software so it is generally easier to avoid IT issues. However, if the WEHI IT police are super intense they may have blocked access to the website.

  • yeah - the IT people have complete control over my laptop. and apparently they are suppose to take full responsibility for security for my laptop - apparently said their system has too much vulnerability (guess all the accounting, patent stuff).

mark and i will have to figure out something shortly. thanks for the offer, we'll keep that in mind.
