the new place

well, it has been an eye-opener to be in a completely different atmosphere yet again. i did learn that integrating into the lab is absolutely essential - but so much easier when people are genuine around you and putting up a facade.

here are some of the conversations the lab/floor has had during lunch:
1. security bees with cameras for detecting explosives (one of my supervisors has a pet project which involves cultivating bees - for what, i still have to determine)
2. breast milk from different species and how it would taste
3. the biochem dept is filled with triathlon/fitness freaks such as me.
4. families from the biochem dept are currently keeping the child care at latrobe up and running
5. fruits that look like various body parts

needless to say, i seem to fit right in and i no longer feel that i have to put a cap on my sarcasm. i must thank wei, my oldest sister, the rest of the family and countless number of friends who helped me realize that it's okay to walk away from a job. i think i might enjoy australia now. how exciting!

i will post pictures of the new place shortly, hopefully i'll see a kangaroo out on the reserve and a turtle in the parking lot - maybe a fish in the moat around the university. it's really odd being in a university setting in the middle of no where after being at institutes for the last 7-8 years.
