picking up on the bike

well, i got my first potential pick-up while cycling on beach road today. beach road runs along the waterfront and has large two or three lane traffic in both directions. it's an excellent road for cycling since cyclists can pretty much take up one lane and the cars are pretty good about it. despite being in the heart of "winter" here, you can routinely see packs of 10-40 cyclists on the road. ratio is about 3:1 (male:female) and you'll often find some single riders such as myself.

so, in line with todays' event (yes, i know i'm taken but i find the whole thing very amusing), i've listed some potential pick-up lines to use on your fellow cyclists.
1) how far are you riding today?
2) nice wheels, where'd you get them?
3) going to cafe racer afterwards? (cafe racer is a coffee joint hangout for cyclists on sat and sun morn)
4) where'd you get those knee warmers? it looks great on you.
don't forget to top it off with: well, maybe i'll see you around then.

  • Oh common, there has got to be better bike pick-up lines than that....

Is this why mark is having troubles training? He is too worried about his wife being picked up by some hot oz boy.....

  • most cyclists on the road here don't talk to each other so maybe when they try to pick up they become socially inept.

oh yeah, and mark is now up to 12-14 h/week right now. nuts hunh?
