watching on the sidelines

wow. this weekend was certainly an eye-opener to racing in australia. mark had a great half IM race at shep. he will have no problem qualifying for ironman australia at anytime, i think. despite him placing top 5 in his age category, they only award top 3 here, so we went home early (well, i was driving so it was a quick ride home!) but i certainly got some good photos of him in pain. it was certainly fun to be on the spectator side. even better when the people you are cheering are the ones near the front. BUT holy smokes. it is simply amazing to see the ratio of men:women who enter the race. only 75 females in the whole race!!! that's less than a 1/4 of the participants. i think we can't have that kind of representation so i guess i had better get my butt in gear. check this picture out... only one line for the females for registration!
