end of an era

or is it the start of a new. a few days ago, i heard news of a music mentor passing away. being in the wrong hemisphere, i could not make the journey back to be at his funeral. he was a strong influence in my life. music was a huge part of his life and i was lucky to have been touched by his enthusiasm for it. he taught and also inspired. i know i wouldn't have spent so many hours busting my chops on my silver trumpet aspiring to have that perfect tone if it hadn't been for him.
