to live and die for
interesting article in xtri.com if you haven't read it, give it a read.

i have often wondered if those around me have a passing thought of "why does she race if she's not that fast?". lately i have been finding triathlon articles to be less than favorable to the slow athlete. i understand it can get frustrating for those who are "fast" and trying to get to kona to easily resent spots taken up with those that can pay the entry fee or through charity avenues. but really, if you are already doing the sport of triathlon, you have enough extra money to buy your spot as well and probably some pretty good equipment. and what percentage do the charity spots really take up?
triathlon has always been about the journey and i am usually awestuck and inspired by the stories that bring people to the sport. so for those who think you have to be fast to be serious - maybe you've missed the point.

i loved the article, lynn. it was great. it's all about keeping perspective.
really. i do triathlons because of the training. also, the social aspects of it, and encouraging others into the sport. the races are just the frosting on the cake.
